ROAD AND MOUNTAIN BIKING

Mountain biking on the Flume Trail and the Tahoe Rim Trail brings thousands of visitors to the Lake Tahoe basin every year.  Both trails have spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. 

You can also find great places to ride your mountain bike at both the Squaw Valley and Northstar ski resorts.  
When ski season ends, these two areas become bike friendly during the summer and autumn months. 

If you do decide to ride around Lake Tahoe it's recommended that you ride in the clockwise direction since most tourists are busy staring at the lake and they will have a better chance to see you.  Ride in groups, riding solo can be dangerous as you are less visible to traffic.

There are bike shops all around the lake that provide rentals, repairs and services for bicyclists.

Bikes permitted only on alternate days, call the US Forest Service for the latest rules and regulations.

There is a regular shuttle service back to Spooner Lake in the summer. Call the Spooner Lake State Park for schedules.
