Pictures from my hike to Mt. Rose on August 29, 2007.  It was a sunny day, I started at 8:30 and was on the summit at 10:28.
I did not see any people on the way to the summit and there was only 1 person on top when I arrived.  I guess the CA
schools going back before Labor Day have removed a lot of the visitor population.  It was wonderfully quiet and peaceful.

After hiking a relatively gradual up and down for 2.5 miles you reach the meadow and get a good view of your destination
It's another 2.3 miles and just under 2000 vertical feet to the summit of Mt. Rose from this spot.

At the summit you get this view of Lake Tahoe.

And here's another view of Tahoe from the summit

Looking across the valley toward the east face of Tamarack Peak

Looking east at the desert and Reno

View of the east shore and the mountains (Freel's Peak, Job's Peak, Job's Sister)
at the south end of Lake Tahoe.  The large mountain on the far right is
Mt. Tallac on the SW end of the lake above Emerald Bay

Panorama looking west from the summit of Mt. Rose
