SLEDDING

There are lots of great places in the Lake Tahoe region to go sledding. Best of all, most of the time you can do it for free with easy access to parking and nice slopes.  Kids of all ages love this activity, so go out and find a great spot.

Regional and State Parks and some private facilities may charge a fee for parking and / or day use.

Mount Rose Highway 431
The Meadows and Mount Rose Summit
A short drive up Hwy 431 brings you to ample parking and a variety of slopes for sledding and tubing. 
Directions - 8 miles along Mt Rose Highway 431 toward Reno.
Driving time – 10 minutes. Driving distance – 7 miles.

Spooner Summit
Description – Steep terrain with plenty of parking, but no services.
Directions - South of Incline Village near the intersection of Highway 28 and Highway 50. 
Driving time –15 to 20 minutes. Driving distance – 10 miles.

North Tahoe Regional Park
Fees vary - call ahead
Directions - Located on National Avenue off Highway 28 in Tahoe Vista.
Driving time – 15 to 20 minutes. Driving distance – 11 miles.

Granlibakken Resort

Description – Snow play area with gentle terrain. 
Directions – Follow Granlibakken Road, 1.5 miles South of Tahoe City on Highway 89. 
Driving time – 30 minutes. Driving distance – 20 miles.

Kingvale Tubing and Sledding Center

Directions - Located west of Donner Summit on I-80 (Kingvale exit).
Driving time – 1 hour+. Driving distance – 50 miles.
