SNOWSHOEING

Snow shoeing is a great activity that provides excellent exercise while you are out among nature in the Sierras. It is very easy to learn and there are countless places where you can go snowshoeing within just a few minutes of Incline.

Wear water resistant boots, Sorel-types work very well, and bring lots of water and some snacks.  Be careful not to dress too warmly, it's better to have some extra clothes in a day pack for when you stop and rest to avoid getting chilled.  Be careful of avalanche zones and unstable snow and ice when you venture out.

Some Nearby Snow Shoeing Places

Tahoe Meadows is approximately ten minutes from Incline Village is very accessible with all types of terrain.  On the south side of the road no snowmobiles are permitted, so that is the best place to begin your journey.  
Directions – Take highway 431 (the Mt Rose Highway) for about 7 miles uphill toward Reno from Incline Village until you get to a broad, relatively level area with parking on both sides of the road.  

Tahoe Regional Park is in Tahoe Vista roughly 15 to 20 minutes from Incline Village. 
Directions – From Incline Village go west on the main road (Highway 28) about 11 miles to Tahoe Vista. Turn right on National Avenue and follow the signs to Tahoe Regional Park.

Sugarpine Point Park is a beautiful spot on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. There are several trails and the terrain is fairly gentle for the most part.
Directions – Take Hwy 28 west from Incline Village to Tahoe City. Go left on Hwy 89 toward Homewood.  Drive about 15 minutes to the park.
